My "deodorant" only works on my left arm

I should probably change my deodorant. In fact it's a little silly that I haven't. I got it because I got all nervous when I heard that a man shouldn't smell like his deodorant, and I got some of the recommended stuff--that apparently didn't make you smell like your deodorant. The first day I wore it, I thought after a few hours: "Hmm. This kind of smells like body odor." I had the same impression for the next few days, but then I had a realization: it is really awful only under my right arm. The left isn't so bad. So now if anyone tells me that I have really awful body odor, I can tell her (or him, I guess) that it is only awful under my right arm. Here, try this arm...see? It's not nearly as awful. Isn't that weird? I think my dilemma is this: I'm told I shouldn't smell like my deodorant. I have this idea that there is some other deodorant at some store I rarely visit that might work for both arms. In the meantime, I can explain my awful smell by referring to the fact that I got it on recommendation, and the really awful smell is mostly just under the right arm.

  1. I hope it wasn't my husband who gave you that advice.

I'll have to take your word for it, or smell it for myself.

  2. Ben? (knock knock knock on computer screen) Is that you Ben?

Only Ben can take over a year off from posting, not say anything about it, and just pick up right where he left off. Ben rules.

  4. I was really thrown by that deodorant advice too. I love a man who smells like deodorant a lot better than one who smells like body odor, or even nothing. I also like the smell of laundry soap so perhaps what I think about smell and men is inconsequential. (I do know this: Only a wuss would use Downy.)

  5. Is it a tribute to Ben that we have been checking his blog everyday for over a year in the hopes that he was back or is it something else?

  7. Sounds like you need a transplant. Or, perhaps you should have the offending arm, or pit, replaced. Do they make prosthetic armipits?

  8. All I can say is I'm so glad you're back, and from now on I'll be sure to only stand on your left side.(Oh, and you should have Ryan stand on your right.)

  9. Ben is back in style. sweet. i had a deodorant problem for a while too. periodically i've insisted on only using natural deodorant b/c i'm paranoid about getting breast cancer and once heard there could be a link between the two. then i got a boyfriend (Bryan) who kindly informed me that i regularly had B.0., but to his credit he married me, and now i use anti-perperant. and we're both happy.

  10. Ben, Let's think about this in logical terms. There you are on the east coast. Now when you face north, your right side is to the east and the atlantic ocean. That is why your right pit smells like the Hudson. If you would move back west, and be more centrally located...even so far, let's say, Nebraska, I think your problem would be solved.

That is just the surface of the explanation...there are other factors to consider as well: like red hair, lds, originated from a higher altitude...
