Small Time Bluegrass

I just finished watching Geoff Groberg's documentary, Small Time Bluegrass. It is a great documentary, if you can get your hands on a copy, you won't be disappointed. It made me laugh with delight to know that Geoff produced this.

Geoff is my closest cousin, we even made a movie or two together back in the day. Geoff is as close as I can come to a living example of how I want my kids to approach life: He makes stuff. He made this movie. He made most of the music for the movie. He has made a few CDs--for which he made some of the instruments. And he has made some great websites. Here's another website.

In one of my ideal schools, I would have kids just gather around Geoff and participate in making relics--movies, CDs, websites, CD-Roms, books, etc.

Thanks for the very nice blog, Ben. If you get a chance, you should let Josh borrow the DVD. I think he will enjoy it since he is a fellow film enthusiast. And check out the very informative website for my other doc that's still in production. It's about treasure hunters!!! (Or is it?)

By the way, if you're in Utah around the 9-13th of August, Small Time Bluegrass will be playing at the Gloria Film Festival. (Not sure exactly which day yet.)

Ben, you are the coolest cousin. (Sorry all you other "2nd best" cousins!)

    Geoff

  3. Ben you have been a part of our family for about a decade and I do not believe I have ever been introduced to your cousin. If he is really as great as you say, one would think you would have introduced him already. What, are you embarassed by me? I hope you can provide a good explanation.

Geoff, my name is Salem. I am Gabby's little brother. I hope to meet you someday.

  5. Salem, have I introduced ANY of my really, really awesome cousins/friends to you?

Also, I have about 4,000 cousins, it's just not practical to introduce you to all of them. But Geoff is the coolest (sorry other cousins!--And you're welcome to make a case that you can beat him out).

How close are you and Geoff really? Let's say there is a dance at maybe a family reunion with like the cousins or whatever. Would you dance with Geoff?

  9. That is exactly my point. I know much about Geoff and have had times where a meeting would have been easy, yet I still have yet to meet him. It just seems odd is all.
